    What I don’t get is why he can’t just pop back in the TARDIS and rewind things about 11 months and fix this wacky misunderstanding.

    You’re not able to go back and alter someone’s timeline. Such as when Rose tried to save her dad.

    I don’t get that. I mean, I’ll accept it since the show says so.

    But like, he’d just be going back 11 months and saying “Okay here’s where we were meant to be”, he wouldn’t be saving someone’s life. I mean how is that any more or less significant than, say, saving a famous historical figure? It’s gonna have way more influence on the timeline than just being punctual.

    He didn’t realize that they were in the wrong time until after she’d already started interacting with people. At that point, it was set in her personal timeline that she interacted with those people after having disappeared for a year. They couldn’t go back without changing that, thus creating a paradox.
